Help on Removing Rear Main Seal
I have the flywheel off and thought I would replace the rear main seal but it is a pretty tight fit in there. I thought I would ask before I did anything stupid if any of you have experience removing the seal. I have a seal puller tool that looks like a little pick but I didn't want to start ripping it out and damage the motor on accident, any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The seal puller will not damage the block if you are careful. I have had to destroy the seal almost everytime I replaced one. You are worrying too much.
if you pry it out make sure that whatever you use you point the end of the tool to the block side, if you scratch that side, not a big deal, if you scratch the crank, you'll be puttin another seal in it and fixn the crank
i take out the seal holder while doing it, just not to damage the crank, i had to destroy the seal everytime i take it out, and you really have to work the new seal in there
just take the 5 or so 10mm bolts holding the whole rear main cover off dude. once thats off , use a hammer and screwdriver to beat the old seal out , and use the old seal to beat the new one in. simple. make sure new seal sits flush.
