Default I need a little Sub help?

My ride is a 2007 civic Si coupe. I want to upgrade the sub in the rear deck. I would like to put a JL 8W7 and a JL 250/1 amp. Now to the question what would be the best way to mount the speaker in the stock location with a ported box? Should I just put it in a sealed enclosure for this location? Ideas please? Thanks.

Being that the stock location is the rear deck, you'll need a sub designed for "infinite baffle" which I doubt there is such a thing. Several companies just came out with shallow mount subs that will fit, but the entire volume of your trunk is not going to be any good for the sub.

I worked on one of these cars but I don't remember what the underside of the rear deck looked like. The only other thing I could think of if there is clearance would be to make a box that could fit beneath the rear deck with the sub lined up with the hole for the OEM sub. IMO, it's not worth the trouble when you could just do a traditional setup or like a spare tire sub box.

build a box for your new subwoofer and pull out your factory sub, so it can vent into the cabin of the car.

dc24 has the best idea honestly, but yes there are many sub which will work in infinite baffle applications, off the top of my head the jl IB4 would work fine, and many many other subs will as well . check out http://www.edesignaudio.com for many, their subs which will work for this are listed as such.

Thanks for the input so far. I am thinking that I could put it in the recomended sealed encloser on JL's site with a spacer to lift itup from the box enough to bring it flush with the rear deck. If I have the box sitting flush to the floor of the trunck I could just slip the 2 amps on either side of the box to fill the empty space. Is there any possible negitive effects of raising the sub say half a inch? Would it effect the sound qaulity?
