Default c.a.r.b turbo

greddy is the only company that makes a carb legal kit for civics irhgt?

well my question is what makes the kit carb legal.
I want to go homemadeturbo and was wondering what the penalties are for having a turboed civic, if there is any.
will be on a 90 sedan ex(sohc zc)

No, Edelbrock does too.

Since you live in Cali fines will be out the *** for an illegal kit. And then if you have say no cat, bam, another thing. I don't think it is worth it in Cali

If you don't drive like a jackass and don't get pulled over, then you really only have to worry about being CARB legal every 2 years for smog. If you live in an area where the authorities are overly strict, you you might want to consider a CARB legal or "sleeper" setup, although I don't think GReddy or Edelbrock makes a CARB legal kit for ZC's so I don't think it's really viable if you want to stay completely CARB legal. If you still want to run a turbo, you should keep your stock parts on hand in case you need to swap the turbo off for smog or a trip to the BAR ref. You should also run some sort of cat in order to avoid being fined for not running one. The main thing is to just drive with some common sense and be wary of heavily patrolled/stricter areas while driving.

hks used to make one, im not sure if they still do.
they pay to have their turbo kits tested i believe with the ref. you can:
1) get the greddy kit and boost a lot
2) make a kit, get a greddy co sticker
3) do a sleeper engine set up

well I was gonna do a sleeper set up. side mount inner cooler, black charge piping, I was thinking of using an hf manifold, and just a small turbo just to boost like 10 pounds maybe,. I think on homemadeturbo.com. someone made their piping go through their original airbox and hid the bov in there . I think that would be cool. and yea If I go boost I was gonna put my cat back on Im actually thinkin about doing it now. i think the fine is like $3000
