Need help with vtec

Default Need help with vtec

it doesnt kick in and pull real good as it used to. i have a 93' SI. with a 01' JDM h22a4 in it.And after a lil while the vtec just doesnt kick in as good as it used too.If i take my whole solenoid off, whats the screen that i have to clean or sumone said bout checkn to make a click? Just need a lil bit of help. thanks id appreciate it.

Make sure you have enough oil in your engine. Also, as you previously stated, you could clean the screen on the vtec solenoid. When you take it apart you should see it. Spray some carb cleaner on it and then wipe off the dirt.

Or you could just replace the screen. Less than $15 at a Dealership.

where is this screen at? i think i should change mine because i havent changed it yet. Could someone explain where it is and how to go about changing it. i know that i am a noob and dont know to much about cars yet. thanks

I cleaned the screen and all. seems nice, even have oil. But my car still seems still not pull good, like you can hear the vtec trying to engage but its doenst pull like it used too. Could it be my clutch, i do need to replace it soon. but its not a major concern right now. Recently i had to do my timing cause my water pump seized up and i did all that right. Could that have affected anything?
