Default gsr/type r long block into a 93 teg Q's

so i'm planning on swapping either a GSR or a Type R into my 1993 Integra. I can pick up most GSR long blocks for around $2,000 and Type R long blocks between $2,800 to $3,400. My main question is:

How much of what is already in my DA can I use towards the new motor? If I have to go out and buy all of the other things I may as well just get a complete swap and save myself the headache.

upon finding a very useful word document about DA swaps, it appears that I can use most of what I already have. I'll just need a VTEC ECU, and preferrably an LSD cable trans.

swap ftw, there is ALOT of stuff you can't reuse and a LSD tranny is a good chunk fo change

Default gsr/type r long block into a 93 teg Q's

gsr motor shouldn't be over $1500. all you need is long block, intake manifold, and an ecu with vtec. easiest solution for the ecu is chip your pr4 with 1 wire vtec.
you guys are out of your minds saying there is so much **** you cant reuse and wiring is so hard. if you are planning to run an lsd your best bet is to buy the whole itr swap. use the gears and lsd from the itr tranny in your current tranny case. this way you keep cable clutch and still have for the most part an itr tranny.

i dont understand why everyone says the wiring will be so hard. according to the guide ill have to run three wires for VTEC, a knock sensor wire, and the second oxygen sensor.

I might move away from the Type-R and just get a GS-R, since part of the greatness of the type-r is the final drive trainny and to enjoy that i would have to get the tranny conversion. I have plans of turboing this build anyway and all that extra money spent for 20hp more could be used to get a decent turbo kit and build the motor.

wiring is not the hard part, you can buy a harness on rywire. if you are turboing it forge the type r especially if you are not going for the tranny.

the biggest benefit you will get out of the type r is the tranny and if you are not getting that you are simply getting a gsr with 20 more hp

if you plan on turbo'ing the gsr would be better due to lower comp, which is not a necessity but makes it easier to turn up boost with mediocre tuning. boost plus high comp=experienced tuner

ah i just didn't catch that the first time. i'm fine with using a cable tranny and its going to be a lot cheaper and less work. im just not happy with the tranny i have in there now, so i think if im going to replace it i may as well just get a cable tranny with LSD.

GSR Longblocks are like $2,000
LSD cable trannys like $450-$600
ECU $200

thats a lot cheaper than a full type-R swap or even a GS-R swap.

if you are plannin on keepin a longer geared tranny why not just buy a LS longblock or build up a bare LS block? plenty of power can be made out of them and the extended rev range is not needed with a LS tranny

I don't know a whole lot about doing that. I'm just looking to do something safe and reliable.

itd be safer in most aspects, the wiring will be the same and the lower compression will make tuning easier. they can handle 275-300whp safely.

I kind of want a VTEC head though too lol. Buying a bare LS block and building it would not be a bad idea though.
