car is a lsvtec when i hit where vtec is supposed to engage the check engine light comes on and it throws cel 21 which is vtec spool solenoid... i cleaned it and it is still doing it...the wiring by the ecu is janky i used to have the same problem and would just have to mess with it...wondering if anyone has any ideas...thanks

 

Why don't you just fix the wiring and wire it up correctly? It would also help if you told us if it was OBD1 or OBD2, etc...
