I installed a cometic .027 head gasket, and now my car is running in limp mode. Is it because the tune is thrown with the higher compression. The tuning is a vafc to a gsr ecu.

a tune being off due to higher compression will not cause CELs, it will cause the car to run poorly.

that is the question that needs to be answered.

thats what I was thinking, that could be the only logical thing that I could think of, and you are right, its not throwing cels with just running really bad. Thanks

The car won't run in limp mode without throwing CELs. Are you sure it's in "limp mode", or is it just running like crap?

Well I guess its running like crap, to describe it would be like its running like its in limp mode, but no cels. So the higher comp of the new hg threw my exsisting tune causing my car to run like crap.

I would go get a tune!

You're timing is probably off now that the head and block are closer together.

This is just my 2 cents: gsr ecus have always given me problems, esspecially on vfac, chipped p28s have always been my friend,,,, there is areason why but I can't remeber,,,,,, Limp mode is when you can't rev past a certain rpm like 3k or 6k and sometimes right before the crossover from low to high maps,,,,,,,,,,

The hg is on correctly. It makes sense that my timing is off. I figured a good tune would fix things. Thanks

All it would do is throw off your timing by a couple of thousands if anything I would bet my money on that piggyback ecu deal you have there

Try disconnecting the piggy system and make sure everything is at top dead center and then restart your car

And see if this fixes the system the oem ecu alone should be able to compensate for a couple of compression point more!

Let us know what happens

Hope this helps
Richard

The stock head gasket is only .026 - .029 thick. Sounds like you put in an aftermarket stock gasket?

if he put stock on there then there should be no comp change thus no problems

why did you not just get a OEM and take the middle out and call it a day if you were trying to increase the comp?
