Battery Keeps dying
My car died sometime last week in a parking lot. I was driving and when i hit the brakes the radio shut off, and then my rpm guage droped to zero and wouldn't move while the car was still running. When i got to a stop sign i shut the car off and it couldn' t start back up, my hazards wouldn't even go on. I put a new battery in, and it was fine for two days and it happened a again this time while i was driving, Hit the brakes and the radio shut of then everything died. ???????????????????Is this an alternator problem of something bigger. Oh i have a 95 civic coupe ex stock d16.
the alternator will drain the battery and a short in the wires will make everything else mess up. whnen you step ont he breaks, the radio will shut off if the battery is dead. like if you try to drive with the neg terminal unplugged it will do the same thing. sounds like a short and alternator replaced will fix it.
hook up a voltmeter to check the voltage at the battery when the car is running, if it is anything above 13.5v, then the alternator is charging and your battery is no good. OR put the voltmeter into amp mode and check if there is any draw after the car is shut off. if there is amp after everything is shut off, then something in your car is drainning the battery out, in that case, neither the battery nor the alternator is faulty.
