Default 94-97 GSR shopping guide - any particular year better for potentially turbocharging?

Hi, im in the market for a GSR soon and i wanted to know if most of the honda crowd (not saying im a follower) were getting gsrs and forging the internals or geting ls's for less and just getting swaps done. I have around 9k as a budget and i would be happy if i could buff this teg up hp wise (homemade turbo?). Im not a mechanic or anything but i know enough to be here heh. Just things like does the tranny hold up to a boosted motor? and if my main goal was to boost should i just get a hatch and a crappy motor in it to save cash? thanks all!

ps. how much would you guys pay for a decent condition 94-96 GSR with 100,000k miles on it?

yes the tranny will be able to hold it. I've seen some stock trannies hold up int he 600-700's hp range. As long as the compression checks out on the b18c1 i see no reason to do internals. You can make about 300-350 whp safely on a good tune with the stock internals of a b18c1.

I paid 6k for a primo condition 98 gsr sedan... i mean near perfect condition though. of course, washington dc cars tend to run more pricey

GSR's and ITR's are the only integra's with DOHC VTEC engines from the factory.
(B18C1 and B18C5)'s respectively.. And DC1's Not in N/A received VTEC SOHC's with a whopping 100 HP

Im looking at a 1999 white gsr not modified at all for 5900. it has 110k miles on it. Im planning to turbo it as soon as i get it and make sure the car is ok mechanically. My question is should i get the engine rebuilt before i drop a turbo in it, or should i just check the compression and keep going.'

This all is my opinion but a 94-95 gsr is better cause they already have the odb 1 ecu but it not hard using a 96+, but u will need to get the kit unless u get the 300 hondata. Back 2 ur question if the car has good compression then turboing the car is not the issue. U have to know what u want to do with the car and ur power range. If u want something under 300hp then i would say just make sure the engine is good and slap on a turbo kit, but if u want more power rebuild the motor but also find a lower price gsr since the build will cost u. U also said u have 9k to play with and u will want to have aleast 4k for all the expensive of going turbo. The process of turboing ur gsr is not cheap so be prepaired 2 spend some money. SO u still have 2 figure out what u want to do with the car and find a good car to spend all this money into
