Default B20A5

Ok, I know there is alot of info on the site... And I have spent a while searching, but I can't find a good answer to my question....

I own a 85 CRX and it has the EW block motor. I was going to do a B series swap, Using Hasports mounts and axels.... I am a member of another board, and when I mentioned my swap was going to be a B20A5 they let me in on something..... maybe?

Do the B16, B18 and the B20A5 all have the same mounting points, as far as motor mounts? Becasue If I can't mount this thing up using the hasport mounts, I need to look at something else.

Second, and in turn, if the mounts are totaly different,.....??? I all ready have the entire top end of the motor, could I use a different block? for exsample, use the B20 head on a B18 block?

I am sorry if I missed this info somewhere in the forum.... "and for the sake of all newbies" This is a HUGE forum..... it is about 10X's as big as the CRX forum I am on, and to search and then sift threw 60-80 posts takes A LONG *** TIME. I know seeing usless posts is annoying.... but so is spending 3 weeks researching something that could be answered in 10 seconds by your knowageable members.

P.s. this is my first post.... HI, my name is tom.

Thanks

those eariler b20a's share nothing in common with the rest of the b series engines. you cannot use that block with a vtec head for the common b20vtec. it also mounts differently than other b series. it's called the red headed bastard step child motor for a reason.

AHHHH, that's the same thing they called it.

Ok, so, I have just the top end out of a 1990 (I wasn't realisticly looking at Vtec)

can I use it on different block?...??? One of the typical B series motors?

It sounds alot like I have recently aquired a bunch of useless parts......

you are going too find alot more info on the b20a5 on a prelude site

try http://www.preludepower.com
vist the 3rd gen section

to answer the ? mounts will be different on the b20a5. they have the gangsta lean unlike other b series motors. you can put a vtec head on the b20a5 but it is very, very, very defferent when compared too a normal vtec head swap. also i am perty sure the b20a5 motor will require you modify the hood. those motors are different they are best left in the 3rd gen. they are a better motor than most people think. vist preludepower.com to find out about why the b20a5 is different, you will probally find out the motor is a beast turboed.
