Default Clearcoat Flaking Off

There are several spots on my Civic where the clearcoat is actually flaking off/peeling up. I believe it's still the original paint job on it. Is there anything I can do to stop this, or do I have to sand off the spots out around where it's peeling? Anyone had this problem before?

maaco = crap

you'll have the same flaking and pealing before too long but you'll be out $3-400.

Sounds like clearcoat failure. Sorry. The fix is repaint the car/affected areas.

It depends on the person who is painting the car. My buddy did all the prep work himself, for the price he paid the paint turned out REALLY good.

This happens to lots of factory clearcoats. It was a problem with certain year Firebirds and 1G Neons and is also a known problem on Milano Red 3G Integras.

Alright, thanks. Well here's a stupid question for you: How do I wet sand? Never done it before. And with wetsanding will I need to bondo where I sanded to smooth it out after, or is this a much gentler technique compared to my usual grind-and-bondo?

no bondo.

bondo is a filler for dents and such.
