Default B18 shift piont

i have a b18a1 in a crx. i was looking around and all the websites i saw say this engine redlines at 6800. i was running up to 8000 before. when should i shift. is running it that high bad for it. Also what cars can i race and win agianst? it is a stripped crx HF with a b18A1 engine with 50,000 mile on it with exhaust and air intake.

so when you draw the gears out that long, are you still feeling the car pull? or do you just think that if the car will rev higher you must be going faster?

90-91 B18a1 redlines at 6800... so running it to 8000 is pointless

92-93 B18a1 redlines at 7000 (not really much more)

8000rpm is TOO much

what happened was i bought the engine and stuff already in a crx with a turbo hooked up. then i wrecked it. so i pulled the engine out and out it in this car. i can't find the guy that put the eingine in before so i didn't know. i don't have the trbo hooked up right now thou. so u still think shift at 6,300? my old car was dynoed and showed i had 250 at the wheels. what i can i reace and keep up with with out the turbo. and what can i run with when the turbo is on?

No one can tell you that, bench racing or computer chair guess racing is dumb. Go find out when your local strip opens up.

Don't pass the stock redline. It is there for a reason.

Study "reciprocating mass" And you will learn why not to over rev an engine.

Or we can just tell him what happenes.

Your springs will where down inside the head, and so will the retainers. Either your springs gets so weak the piston comes up and smacks the valve thus ruining the head, or a retainer lets go and you drop a valve, thus ruining the whole motor.

8000rpm might not sound high, but when you say 133 times a second, then it sounds fast.

ok another question. i was running a turbo and now i am not and the car kept shuttung off on be after like 10 minutes. then i relaized it was b/c i have bigger fuel injectors since i had more than 190 horsepower. but now i am below that. should i just tune my car with my apex fuel managment system or should i just go get stock fuek injectors. i don't know! i am thinking just about tuneing it. they both cost about the same.
