Default EL gauge swap problems in 92.. HELP

i did my EL swap, i have a 95 vtec gauges with the harness that runs behind the guages and treble speakers and the silver inverter box. i do not have the black box behind the clock however. anyhow, ive swapped them into my 92 SI.

i wired the extra ground on the passenger side, and the blinkers, gauges, fuel/temp, cel etc work fine. the problem im having is, at night when my headlights are on, i do not get any lighting to various accessories including:
ring around the lighter, all buttons on my center console (temp, fan, etc), and no lights behind the sunroof, cruise, and dimmer buttons. ive checked every fuse and harness plug i could find.

my stereo still works and lights up, and my cig lighter has power, and the green cruise light works if button is pressed but the word "cruise" doesnt light up.

any ideas? anyone else run into this?

sounds like you just need to swap some new bulbs in the climate control and on the driver side controls.

i could see a fuse goin out for all them, but i cant imagine that the cig lighter ring, center console gauges, and the buttons to the left of the steering wheel would all go out at once. they all worked prior to the swap.

does anyone know if there is a fuse that goes to all these, or a ground or wire?

i know the sunroof, cruise buttons are on a diff harness than the center console and cig lighter. are the harnesses connected in series? (daisy chained?) or are the completely seperate?

good luck. no 1 on here has any knowledge of the EL cluster. I've asked so many questions about it and they remain unanswered. I've searched only to find a write up that has yet no solution to a tripometer reset. Also no 1 has any idea of the 4ws cluster or whether or not I could just add a bulb in to the existing cluster EL cluster I had bought. Double check your fuses. The interior lighting fuse underneath the hood. I had a similar problem before with my analog cluster and that was it.

thanks for the reply. im starting to think its a fuse out somewhere. (after ive ripped my whole dash out again).

i visually checked them all and they look fine to the eye, but i think ill start swapping them out to make sure.

is there one specific fuse that controls only the fan/ac/tempslider lighting, coin tray light, cig lighter ring light, and the button to the left of the steering wheel?

It's gotta be a fuse. I've had the same exact problem. Check the fuse box underneath the hood.

That's kind of a broad statement. As far as the original posters question, did you use the harness from the 95? Also, From what I recall, that "black box" as you call it is different from the one in the '92s. Do you have any type of alarm installed in the vehicle? Has the wiring besides the new harness been altered in anyway? there is a connection that runs from the dash harness down to the center console harness, are you sure this is fully connected?

also

I never remember having this problem with the swaps I did. if you look back at the archived threads I, and others created. I dont remember this being a common issue. There is a good chance I was just luckly, who knows. Are you possitive this funtion worked in the car is was originally installed in? I new a few people that had trip odometer problems when it was in the original car.

how is it a gay question? I have a 92 4ws, the EL cluster I bought has a slot for it, I just wanted to know if the indicator would be able to tell me errors if I put in the bulb for it and wired it as if it were an EL 4WS cluster. However no 1 seems to know.

i actually am purchasing on of those black boxes now. i kept my 92 one, so hopefully that will fix it. the harness in my car now is from the 95, and only modifation was hte blinker ground (which the console lights were dead before and after that).

and no alram or anything else, just stock aside from the swap i just did. i did get under there and press the connections in nice and firm, but i think ill pull them out and reclip them in again just to make sure.
