Default How does this sound for a simple suspension setup?

ST rear sway bar in the back (22mm) or a 15mm Si swaybar
Stock swaybar in the front (19mm)
Either Tanabe springs, cheapo springs, or Megan coilovers
Stock shocks, or maybe gr2's

I'm not really sure what to do with springs though, I'm on a VERY low budget, so i have to buy things accordingly, I'm not bothered by bumpiness really. I might or might not do autocross, but i know i will do bad in any kind of performance driving so im not worried about having a car that is seriously built for autox'ing.

Also, I'm just wondering but what do people have against Ebay cheapo springs? they are pretty damn stiff.. i mean the ride is gonna be rough but they are really really stiff springs, it seems like they could make up for it in handling. My friend had an EG civic with ebay coilovers in the front and the thing handled amazingly well, and as far as i can remember really wasnt that bumpy. Another guy i know has CHOPPED ebay coilovers, cranked as low as they can go, the car is bumpy, but not to the point where you absoultely would not drive it.

Just because it's a rough ride doesn't mean it handles well or a good ride.

You should step up to a better shock, a good shock on stock springs would be better then weak old stockers or some junky KYB part on a random high rated spring.

as far as the ST bar goes it's an awesome upgrade, stock front works pretty darn well with them.

personally here is how i would rate the difference in handling through my suspension parts:

Strut bars < GC with AGX < Sway bar < Autopower 4 pt.

and to answer your question<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Coolcat55 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">even with stock springs/shocks will the ST rear bar be a very noticble difference?</TD></TR></TABLE> yes i felt a big difference even with stock, but you cant get the whole effect freaking body roll ftl

well looks like a ST bar should be a good idea, and they are pretty cheap, only like 130 bucks or so.

Which do you think would be better, spending 130 on a ST bar, and about 170 or so on springs, or just use my 15mm bar, and spend about 300 on springs?

unless you have a sedan, your front swaybar is 18mm, not 19mm.

a good rear swaybar and good shocks like illuminas (not Gr2 or blues) and stock springs and decent tires is all you need for good handling.

Wow, Illuminas are crazy expensive, around 130 per shock.. way to much for me unfortunately. I think I'll prolly just go for the ST bar and then leave the rest alone, My car is a slow 4dr and im poor, there is not much point in wasting money into it.
