^^ Ok, so what makes you think that if someone is getting 30-32 out of a DOHC 1.8 litre that you wont get that or better out of a SOHC 1.6 litre... assuming you arent driving like an ***? I have I/H/E on a D16z6 with a stuck plug and a fuel filter that probably hasn't been replaced for years and i still get around 33... and thats refueling at about 10 gallons with still 1.9 gallons to go.(messed up fuel gauge)

I had an auto ex 2000... about the same as others, it wouldnt go below 25, even in winter. But on highway I could get 35-37. Otherwise an average of 32-34
But I like my SI better lol... In Florida, I can get 40+ pretty easy. Highway that is, I think it was 44 the last time I did it. Winter gas in the northern states fetches me 25-30... :-(

No, that'd be a VX or an HX with CVT.

VX's and HX's are both SOHC VTEC-E.
Simple explanation:
When not in VTEC, it has a 3-valve swirl lean burn profile, and when in VTEC, it works all 4 valves open like a standard SOHC non-VTEC motor.
VX's are 92-95 hatches, and HX's are 96-00 coupes.

correct, and dont forget about the weight. The only thing heavier than a EX, is the SI. Hatch vs Coupe is a big difference. And also the wheels/tires.

THE labeled MPG is 36-38 on highway/30-32 on city, but of course your MPG is going to differ from that.. People drive faster than when they do testing on the vehicles, different outdoor temps, so many variables to account for (more people in car with you, you weigh 599 lbs, etc...)
right before I wrecked it, my 95 EJ1 was gettin around 35 in the city and maybe around 39-40 highway. It was the original D16Z6 manual with Intake and Exhaust.
My Current B16 96 Hatch gets around 28-30 city and 32-35 highway.
