Default short shifter problem..and question....

the other day me and my brother went out to test of my car.. its a crx with a gsr motor...cable trans y1 with kaaz lsd.... anyway i wanted to know if short shifter mess up your transmission..because i was shifting and and all but would on only go from 1-2 gear 3rd gear i would always grind the expletive out my 1000 transmission...damn man i just could it get that gear in it just would not going i would push it and push it but once i felt it wasnt going to get i shift to nutral instead.... i was wondering could this be my short shifter is one of that that they sell on ebay.... not the dual bend but the b&m style...could it be my ebay short shifter, transmission, or something wrong with me?

i mean i always powershift the car and im a pretty good power shifter with hydro trannies, and the transmission not really sure its the tranny because it always shifts smooth when shifting normal...

I didn't quite understand what you said in the first paragraph. But I can tell you from my experience that short shifters suck. I have the same tranny as you but with oem lsd and it never grinded. As soon I put on some ebay short shifter I am grinding 4th nearly everytime and 5 occasionally. As soon as I find a stock shifter I am taking that junk off.

Oh, and powershifting eventually leads to tranny deaths. I have seen many trannies die because of "powershifting".

punctuation is your friend.

I would love to help here, but I cant seem to understand what you are saying very well.

I never had a problem with my short shifters causing any gears to grind. Don't really know what to tell you man.

Short shifters all depend on brand. I ran a Neuspeed one for years and never had a problem. I use a Fastline one now

thats true.. i mean the one i bought on ebay is a no brand short shifter only cost me 15 bucks..... anyway i change shifter right now like 30 minutes ago.. from the single bend to the dual bend short shifter its kind of like oem style shifter.. anyway i went to test out my car and still does the same thing i cant get 3 gear to go in when powershifting... sucks because when i first got the tranny i could powershift into any gear no problem.. i tryed the normal way shifting letting go off the gas and it does go in all the way... but still i think im messing up my tranny from all that powershifting i did when i first got the tranny.. now its really hard to shift at high rpm's...

i didnt know that powershifting would mess up your tranny... i mean i did it all the time with out any grinds at all... but i guess i am messing up my tranny more and more everytime i keep on doing it... i mean your still pressing down on the clutch your just not letting go of the gas pedal... but i guess full throttle shifting does mess up your tranny... would anyone know why?

yeah man, if you want your 1000 trannies to last, you better not power shift them.
