to buy or not to buy?
Well, there's this 91 crx si for sale that I saw on a local forum. It said it has a b18a1 swapped in, 5 speed, body work needed, blue, body has like 344xxx kms on it (not sure about the motor) and its driveable. I checked out the car today, and its blue(looks like it was painted on trying to do a sad attempt at the $50 paintjob), lowered on something but the shocks are blown, it has some kinda sideskirts and front lip on it.
There's a dent in the drivers door, i think someone slightly ran into him, so you can't open the front door from the front, you need go open it through the hatch or passenger door. It has a shitty ractive exhaust, the tranny mount is cracked i believe and the shift linkage fell through, just need to bolt it back, and its ready to go. Apparently the bolt rattled off from the vibration of the car when the tranny mount broke. Well the guy is selling it for $400 canadian.
Right now I'm debating if I should buy it and fix it up, and resell it, since the limited number of crx's in the area are going for a good price. Or should I buy it and keep it as a car I can drive from time to time, or should I just stay away from it.
Reason im asking is because I'm like 16, I only have like a grand saved up from work..I was planning on buying an integra later on, but I feel like this crx will let me gain experience on working on cars first hand and would be a good way to make easy money, or would be a fun car to keep.
Do you guys think its worth 400 canadian? i only have 1000 saved up pretty much, so i might run out of money soon fixing the car. it may be my first car, so your opinions will help!!!!!
thanks
EDIT: i forgot to add, i also always had a soft spot for the crx

I mean it's a POS, and not worth buying and putting ANY money into when you can continue saving to buy something worthwhile that doesn't require $2000 ($10,000 CDN) worth of work.
Take it from me. I know a little something about POS CRXen.
Otherwise, have fun explaining to your date why you have to crawl through the hatch because your door won't open.

lol yeah i dont really care for show, just something i can work on...im gona get intouch with the owner again an check out the car, and see what needs to be replaced for it to be a decent daily driver. so far im guessing the tranny mount, shift linkage, fix the exhaust manifold leak (missing bolt), door, shocks since its blown but i might buy new coilovers all together, paint, might need to get a front bumper and normal sideskirts
. im not sure how much that will come to, but if i fix it up decently, i might just put it back up for resale

If I was you I probally wouldnt buy. if you dont really need a car soon. then you have time and some money to get work done on the pos. if you do all your own stuff and look around for good deals then you can probally do it with 1000. just take your time andbe smart about it
