Where's the "cam sensor" on the 97 v6?
The 97 I got in a trade the other day still kinda jumps a little while driving, even though I paid Honda $545 to figure out what all was going on with my car (tach was jumping too). I guess all they did was replace the actual coil and igniter in the distributor, but didn't bother seeing if anything else was wrong with the car, other than the obvious (tach jump and missing 1 of the 2 rad fans). Needless to say it still jumps some. Talked to the guys friend I got the car from, and he said they ran codes on it when the other guy still had it, and said it came back somethign about a cam sensor was faulty? Which would cause the car to kinda jump a little when you're driving it. Anyone know what he's talking about?
The jumping of the tach may be related to a loose connector on the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) or a bad VSS, which is located on top of the transmission.
If it is not the VSS, it may be the instrument gauge cluster (more specifically, the printed circuit board (PCB) for the tach, in back of the gauge cluster).
You should try to see if it still returns a code related to the VSS. Check the FAQ at the top, for how to read any codes.
