Default cams: '97 vs '98 vs '00

is there enough difference that it's worth the switch? i have one motor with '98 or '00 cams.. i forget which... i think it has the 98s that came in the motor.
i also have an engine with '97s.

is it worth the trouble to swap? if it's just a few whp, then i'm not gonna worry about it.

thanks

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Michael Delaney &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">CTR cams differ only with the 1997-1999 ITR cams at the intake VTEC lobe duration ( by only 3 degrees more duration ) and ramp angle..that's it!! The intake max. lift are identical. The exhaust cams for both are identical. :

The 2000-2001 ITR cams are identical to CTR cams.

And yet the 2000-2001 ITR's make identical power to 1997-1999 ITR's!! There's no advantage in getting CTR cams for a B18C. - about 8-10 peak whp gain properly tuned.</TD></TR></TABLE>

To summarize it up, all ITR years make the same amount of power.

But, what about with tuning?

I have a blower on my R and I sometimes wonder what the power difference might be by switching the cams.

Don't you have a car to work on or something?

I could have swore that an OG member with tuning skills said he got 7whp out of CTR intake cams with tuning.

Isn't there a lot of archived information about the 97/98 vs. 00/01 cams?

Even the honda part numbers are different. But quite simply, I believe 00/01 cams are the same as the CTR cams.

i checked the thread, here in the ITR forum. 'found nothing on it, though there MUST be. so cams out of my old '00 engine would be a bit better than out of my '97?

John Boy,
I checked the ECU already... Unfortunately, the S300 does not act up at all on the GSR. Must be a short in the wires somewhere
