each port has an individual gasket that is just shy of 5mm thick. i'm not sure what they are made of, but they look as though they have a woven metal fiber wrapped with a copper liner. kinda like this:

there is no room to run it anywhere else... the rider sits on top of it, his legs down either side (you can see the brake on the one side of the engine and the gear shift on the other) and there is no clearance to run it under the engine... i also took about 1.5" off the oil pan to make it more shallow for this setup.

running the exhaust out the front is standard on these bikes:

btw, i was invited to ride as the "monkey"... i declined, saying i like to see my kids on a regular basis and not be in the ground in a box.

weiRtech,
Aha... I remember seeing those or some like 'em on Speedvision (as it was called back then) during the Isle Of Mann TT Championship. Those things absolutely haul ***! Those guys or "monkeys" are nuts! I've seen a few of 'em clip a hay bale mid corner WOT and take a serious beatdown. I don't blame you for declining the offer.
Again... nice work!

the collector was a bitch to do... i made the mistake of going from head to collector... the reason i did this was because he wanted 21" runner lengths and the runners also had to fit down inside that little area where they all go behind where the seat mounts to so i wanted to make sure everything was going to fit. also it isn't as symmetrical as it appears, the engine is slightly off center from the seat so that added to the headache. i did most of the work before i had the shell... when it came time to finish it off, i thought it best to use the shell to have accurate placement for the outlet and the old pipe he had provided was giving me the idea it was about 6" further back... thank goodness i hadn't welded all the 2.5" pipe solid so i just had to break the tacks and add in a 6" extension and slightly angle the pipe downward to work out just right. it ended up taking me far too long to complete.
