Manual Steering RACK conversion...
I recently performand a manual steering rack conversion (removing the PS pump, lines, and replaceing the PS rack with a MANUAL steering rack from a 1997 civic DX.) and i have a problem, the steering colum output (at the firewall) is larger than the shaft of the new manual steering rack. after using a micrometer, i discovered that there is a 3/32 difference in diameter between the manual and power steering rack splined shaft inputs. Ive talked to Honda about this, they told me that all civics of EK/EM1 chassis have the exact same steering column assembly and the same steering racks availible in powerand manual trim. i call BS beaucse the shafts are different! the manual steering rack input is 19/32 and the power steering rack is 11/16. help is appreciated!
