Default Manual Steering Rack Conversion on EK

Anybody done a manual steering rack conversion on a 96-00 Civic? I hate power steering and I like the feel of the manual steering rack. Just wondering what parts would be needed to do this and how difficult it would be.

i wanted to do the same to my 98 dx with a 2000 si swap. i considered getting a manual rack from a non power steering 97 coupe, or a 92-95 manual rack from a hatch (both will fit) and then decided, **** it, its way to much work to switch the rack, so i removed all the power steering hardware, cut the two hoses going to the rack, and then looped the hose fron the two outlets on the rack, and clamped them, just to keep fluid in the rack so as to not cause any "dry rub". Inline pro has done this on their drag integra's, and this has lasted with no problems for years. your welcome.

The point is that the powersteering rack is a bitch to turn when ps is not hooked up, a car with a stock manual rack is easy to turn. That's why I want to swap the rack. Looping the lines or using that kit would essentially just elimintate the pump, not make it easier to turn.

my car turns fine with the rack still looped, the only time it feels like a manual is when the car is at a dead stop, once i move a mile perhour or so, it feels like i never took anything out, like it still has power steering.

weight loss is weight loss, track times on a front wheel drive equal to .36 for ever 100 lbs, so lose say 300 lbs, drop a second in your quarter mile time slip! it's worth it.
