idles like a subaru
alright so i have a 1992 hatchback civic cx, i had the POS 8 valve motor and it took a **** so i had to swap it. so i got a motor in ohio from some japanese people and it was the 16 valve motor. so i went from a d15b8 to a d15b7. So when i finished i went to start it and it runs on two cylinders. it has spark, fuel, and compression where do i look next, possible that the timing belt isnt right . do you have to trade computers or distributors or something because it went from 8 valves to 16 valves?????any help would be appreciated

i belive the ecu's arent compatable (meansg ya get the d15b7 ecu)
check compression again, add oil and cheeck compression one more time
check for spark, and check to see if those 2 injectors are working

Re: idles like a subaru (spork motorsports)
yeah the compression is good and all that and i will check the injectors but i didnt think those computers were compatible because it runs like ****. i know cylinders 1 and 2 are the ones misfiring and 3 and 4 are fine. when the motor is at top dead center shouldnt the rotor on the distributor be hitting the #1 spot like where the cylinder spark plug goes on the distributor cause at top dead center it is hitting the number two cylinder and firing that spark is that right?????

i dont know either none of the manuals i have say what cylinder it should be on at top dead center the timing i think is correct because we used a timing light. but i think from reading some of the other posts i might be looking at having the wrong computer because i dont think the 8 valve computer is compatible with the 16 valve computer

1-4-3-2
haha i got you confused with someone else ya if it is running it prolabbly isnt the firing order, pick up a 92-95 dx civic or lx civic ecu, and you'll be set. not an ex

I don't think there's ever been an inline four that isn't 1-3-4-2 firing order.
