yes you should hone it, if its been outside you defneed to hone it, i found a d16y7 like that at my highschool 2nd motor i ever built, those pistons look bad............man myabe its just the pic quailty but damn looks melted
ya its the pic there is oil on top of the piston stupid *** cousin dropped some old *** oil from his truck change i just did on it right b4 i took the pic.... i wiped some of it off for the pic as you can see...
well what if you cleaned both of them up sold the head (if you really wanted money) because you say you already have a z6 head on your block then you shouldnt need 2 unless your going to modify that one and swap it on.
clean the block and keep it for when your block decides to take a **** SIDEWAYS!!!!!!!!! maybe even build it if you have the time and money.

read the post... its a y7 not b7. you can still boost a b7.
if it was me id do a built mini me and turbo it. run your current z6 till its done then just swap n you have hardly any down time.

i cant get a clear enough pic but the pistons arent pitted at all just a ton of carbon on them... it was like that when we pulled the motor... it was nasty
started the teardown today... gonna be usin some serious degreaser haha theres a ton of carbon on the valves and top of the pistons... how can this much carbon be on them? what could have caused it?

where do you get your info from? i want to shoot the guy who gives it to you because the all d-series have pretty much the same strength in their rods, there is the exception for the zc having little bit wider rods, it can handle a little bit more, but still.
As far as a car not having vtec@@!!@#, that doesnt mean anything lol. one of the most powerful d-series isnt vtec(d16zc dohc). b18b's, b20's those are fine motors.

well the reason we pulled the y7 z6 combo from the car is cause it made crappy crappy crappy power and we couldn't figure out why... we put this z6 in and it runs like a spotted *** ape...
the z6 in there now pulls really hard and i like it... i cant wait to build the z6 and turbo it thats gonna be sweet
but what could some reasons for crappy power and all the carbon on the valves and pistons? there was alot... way more than usual
