TL/RL Engines
Hey guys just wondering what is the Engine code for the TL 3.2 litre. And what is the code for the Type-S 3.2 litre. Also wondering if these engines come with6 speed trannys and LSD. Also wondering if they are single or dual over head cams. If they are single, why are they single and not double. Also what is the difference between the RL and TL motors if there is any. Also how much would a used engine cost me with the tranny ( 6speed-LSD ). And also another question, are TLs RWD or FWD ? Because i am thinking of droping the Engine in a 5th gen Prelude. Also what would be the best year of an Engine I should look into. And do these Engines/transmishions have any problems ?
Lots of questions, but it's because I'm from the Prelude section
thnx.

The RL is a larger displacement with different head castings than the J32's found in 2G TL's, and these are all SOHC engines. The only DOHC VTEC V6 Honda has produced for passenger vehicle use to date would be the older C30 and C32's found in the '90 ('91 here in the States) thru '05 NSX. Why? I'm not a Honda design engineer or product planner so I have no clue. And the 6-spd trannies that I'm aware of (3G TL's) are open diff, don't know about the older Legend C-series trannies though *shrug*

Type S or base? Somebody here at work has an '06 TL 6M and it's a one-tire frier

sweet finaly some answers. Another question. How much do those cars weigh roughly? The Prelude weighs in at 3,800lbs. And which engine would you recomend for this swap. LSD isn't exactly needed, i can convert it if I want to. The main thing I'm looking for is +250bhp and 6 speed is a must.

The Prelude shouldn't be 3800 lbs. More like 2900. Someone else here put a J-series into a civic, you should look into what he did if you're serious about it. I've never heard of this swap being done in a Prelude personally. It would probably be easier to use the 03 CL-S motor and trans, the later TL's used drive by wire throttle control which would just add more complexity to the job.

Curb weight is 3,000lbs for the Prelude. So...CL-S is recomended. Perfect. What is the engine code and tranny code should I be looking for? This is the last question. ty for your help.

There is no reason for you to say that and no way for you to prove that.
I was planning on doing a j series engine and a 62pd tranny in my 95 lude. I just got distracted with school and such. I need a set of traction bars to clear the front exhaust.
