There's no difference that I can think of. The older the car, and the lower the OBD number, the more limited the engine codes are, but they are all the same. As they OBD gets more complex they just add more codes. The SH doesn't have any special engine codes, but it has a seperate ATTS error indicator light.

For a list of codes:

Sorry, I'm going on about error codes, when you just want the engine codes, right?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">H22A1- USDM 2.2L DOHC VTEC- 92-96 Prelude VTEC (190hp)
H22A4- 2.2L DOHC VTEC- 97-01 Prelude VTEC/SH (97-98: 195hp / 99-01: 200hp)
H22A- JDM 2.2L DOHC VTEC- 92+ Prelude Type-S, 97+ Prelude SiR S Spec. (220ps)
H23A1- USDM 2.2L DOHC non-VTEC- Prelude Si (160hp)
F22A1- USDM 2.2L non-VTEC- 92-96 Prelude S/90-93 Accord LX/EX (130hp-135hp)
</TD></TR></TABLE>

Those are just 4th/5th Gen codes. There's also some odd European engine codes.

SH motors don't put out more power than the normal prelude.

actually i think the SH's do, a very small amount more, due to the slightly more agressive cams (its like what... 0.1 more?) I forget now. Honda did this to make up for the extra weight of the ATTS system

There is nothing in writing or in dyno plots that says the SH motor is more powerful. The Helms manual lists more aggressive cam, but the SH and the base model have the same cam part number. Also to the wheels the SH loses more power do to the added powertrain loss of the ATTS.

RabbittZ, if you're thinking of swapping an SH motor, I'll tell you right now, you don't want it. The SH motor comes with the ATTS unit. If you want the ATTS to be more than just a paper weight, you need to implement all the sensors that the ATTS computer relies on throughout the car. There's a vertical G sensor, yaw rate sensor, individual wheel speed sensor and more. They have to be placed perfectly in the car, and even then if the car has a shorter wheelbase, or if the ATTS computer sees anything it feels is out of it's parameters it will shut the ATTS off. It's very finicky. The ATTS unit even needs it's own oil cooler.

Agreed. I would say get a JDM H22a 4th gen motor...but you say you want USDM....get a 4th gen motor if you can, but mileage will be higher...
