Default Is it worth owning a Honda, especially highly modified?

I'm posting this here because GDD is not very Honda friendly, everyone will say get an EVO or something, lol.

OK, so I'm seriously debating turboing my DC. I won't be able to garage the car, my brother's TSi (highly modified) is taking up the garage space, and only 1 car fits with all our ****. I really want to turbo it, but as stealthy as possible and keeping it only ls mesh, but still. Thieves aren't stupid and I think they'll find a way to steal it. Even if I denver boot the ******.

What should I do? is it worth the pleasure of driving such a car? the worries? I have insurance but I'll still be losing out. Should I just sell the car, I'll be wanting to mod it. What other car would I buy? What can 8-10k buy me? In the price range there's nothing that I've been able to think about that I really like, other than Hondas. Don't really want to do RWD since I live in Illinois and snow in winter.

questions, comments, concerns? input thannks

yeah man it's just a car. modding never really ends if you've got the money. you just need to find a point at which you're happy with the car.

If your hesitant on building a car due to thiefs, I would just get out the game. Thats wack bro.

Honestly, there are SO many layers of security you can have, the possibilities are endless. Also keeping your car in safe places helps as well, and perhaps thinking about a beater when your project is well on its way may be in your best interest as well.

Do what makes YOU happy.

i remember a couple brothers who got their cars jacked the same time. so yes they will

now is it worth it to have a highly modified honda...it all depends on the person owning it.

do i want to highly modify mine? no, its not worth the money for a daily driver to me, i just want it to look good. Modifying cars for some is just a hobby, for others its a way of life.

Just do it. You'll love the car once boosted. They don't steal every car. You just have to know that there is a chance they will steal yours.

Do it.

Full Coverage with aftermarket part insurance is your friend.

Also get security, A boot would pretty much stop them for the most part.

Of course they could tow it, but hell.. Also set up a camera to watch your car

if you think its that bad.

A daily driver where you take it everywhere with you, movies, shopping, etc is a risk that you take when you drive a modify Honda. Extra security is always better. Pager alarm, quick release steering wheel, etc.

If you just wanna throw a turbo on, go ahead and do that but always remember that you are going to want to add more stuff as you go along. Modifying is a never ending story. Keeping it stock is good but a Honda is a Honda. Just remember, do what makes you happy but if it gets stolen, would it bother you to know that you work so hard on it and its gone. If you wait for your car to get stolen to get out of the game, don't start. Here is a line I like to use....

Go big, or go home....

Hope this help

I'll have to look into that aftermarket parts insurance. I was wondering if there was such a thing.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go ahead and do it. I'm positive this isn't just a hobby for me at least not at this point in my life.

The only other car taht I have interest for is a 3.2Tl-s if I could find one for cheap. But the tranny woes scare me. or maybe a first gen gs300 or even a dsm. I've also entertained the idea of my first love as a 6 year old. a 91-92 Camaro z28.

I think for alot (not all) but most of us here on Honda-tech
Modifying out cars, and Automotive vehicles in general is not just a hobby,
Its a passion, and its life. Its our choice, and I have made mine that
My car isnt just something I drive. It's part of me.

then again, I also have basically built my entire car myself...

Yesterday I had a guy in a 00 GSR want to trade me for my 1990 Acura Integra.

I said no, And he still insists we trade.

All be it my car isn't that modded other than an LSV engine build and some JDM goodies. I spent 3 years and countless of thousands to get it from the scrap heap I paid $500 for to what it is today (which it's no 12sec car and most assuredly NOT a show winner).

I feel like it's time for me to move on myself. I daily the car, it needs a rebuild, which puts me in the same boat of to turbo or NOT to turbo. I LOVE my car, don't get me wrong, but I've been working on it for 3 years, and I feel like short of paint, I've done all I can with it or for it. I don't want to spend the money to turbo it because frankly, I'd like to do something AWD. Or at least rear wheel drive heavier sedan/power sedan.

I will NEVER sell my Integra. I'm just done playing with it for a while. It's a FUN daily driver and a decent weekend warrior in the North GA mountains and at the track. It's just time for me to get a big persons car since my current position kind of asks for it.

SO....back to the drawing board for a newer nicer ride. Something AWD (A4 1.8T) or at least something I can put a 2JZ (GS300) in to.

The Integra will sit and earn it's planned cage and all motor rebuild....I LOVE this industry. It is a passion to work on my car and a pleasure to spend money on it (most of the time). It will be reborn.

Is it worth it? I don't think for a daily driving machine it's worth it to own a highly modded, nice paint, or an all out car. For a weekend car or something fun to drive...oh hell yes.

Long live the DA!

Yes it's worth it. Enjoy your car to the absolute fullest extent, don't ever let the fear of getting it stolen stop you from doing something you want to do to it.

not STi

Talon TSi, which when parked outside in front of the house someone [i]at least[i] attempted to break into it, my sister woke up my brother because she heard the alarm going off. Keyhole was busted (passenger side).

As for an a4 1.8t awd, I've thought about it, but I've heard lots of **** with vw/audi. (good and bad, but it's just scary).

Yeah theft rate on something like a TSi is lower than Hondas, so kick him out into the driveway! Haha...anyway it sounds like you've got thieves around in some capacity so just make sure you've got decent security and insurance. Anything beyond that is out of your control.
