d-bar question for sfwd
alright ive been searching for about two hours and i also have tried emailing a nhra tech and have been calling for about a week now also. i have found the d-bars both ways, welded to a plate which is welded to the exhaust tunnel...or welded to a lower cross bar which ties into the main hoop plates.
not sure if it matters but i am on the west coast, just wondering does it matter which way they are done? thank you. just want to make sure

welded to a lower cross bar which ties into the main hoop plates. <---- thats what i would do.

either the main hoop, or the rocker sill.
mine is done with plates, because they were done while the inpsector was there and my builder asked how should we do it. he told us to plates.
BUT technically, they need to go to a cross bar attached to the main hoop or the rocker sill.

i stand corrected..........well 50%
he hee it is the rocker sill and that was an option to do mine but again our inspector told us to do it that way.

Yeah, mine's not done that way, nor have i ever seen anything in writing about the bar going to the rockers. It's like some secret that only special people know about or something. lol I think both ways will still pass.

both ways will pass, you dont have to have that bar and you can run the d bars to a nice plate in the center or 2 seperate plates near the center. Thats how i did mine and i specifically called the tech was going to inspect it to rack his brain about all these little rules that are here say and whatever. He said he would like to see that bar because he thinks its a good way to do it for our chassis design but it is not required...and let me tell you that he is a strict mF'r that teched with NHRA powerade and **** like that.
thank you for the information guys. the techs are pretty hard to get a hold of. all the pictures that i found while searching were both ways and i never read anything about this way or that way is wrong, so i wanted to make sure.
so either way will pass tech, but the SAFEST way is have a lower cross bar that attaches to the rockers.
