I just bought an S2K from a local dealership, its a 01 with appox 59k. I have some questions on the way it feels and need to know if it is normal.

1. When i am at idle there is a tapping noise similar to lifter or valve noise, now it is louder when cold but never really goes away. It changes pitch with revs. I dont notice any performance loss. I have been told that since this the gen that has 9k revs it maybe normal.

2. I dont think this is related but.... When Iam cruising at really any speed but best felt when at appox 60 mph and over 4k in revs, I feel a knock or strong vibration in the pedals mostly the clutch pedal; as the car slows down (while in gear). And not the "I am going to stall" vibration; it starts from the moment it starts to loose mph. here again told maybe normal for RWDs.

I have 5 days to return this car its now the end of day 2 please help. Oh and does this have hydro lifters or adjustable lifter???

 

take if back and complain what you think is the problem... then maybe they can fix it for you ... and if its still the same, return it...

i think its just a clutch buzz...

 

Clutch buzz.... but idk wtf that 4k @ 60mph thing is your talking about..

either way take it to te dealer and tell them your concerns

 

take it back and get another one period. You dont want to be stuck. I bought an 00 ap1 and it drives like a dream...

 

if you have any doubts take it back, you dont want a s2k that you think may be a lemon

Thanks for the replies I toke it to the dealer and they addressed both concerns for me without question!!! For the noise at idle it was a valve adjustment; and the vibration was the clutch. They were going to install a new O.E clutch but instead I paid the $75 difference for a Exedy full face. I wanted to go with a Puck or twin disc clutch but they said that anything more may void my warrenty.

I picked it up today and the car runs and drives like a champ and the clutch has much better grab. So for 75 bucks and 2days I cant complain. I still have time to return it but they were great about it. BTW I got this car and service at a local Carmax.
