Im looking at JL Audio or Infinity Kappa Perfects running off of JL Audio 500/1
After I get all of my fiberglass work done inside my car, I am looking at getting new subwoofers. RIght now I have (2) Infinity Reference 1052W. I built custom fiberglass enclosures for them but I do not have an amp for them anymore(took kenwood amp back with extended warranty, it wasnt powerful enough anyways for it).
I am looking for great sound quality. Right now I am looking at the Kappa Perfect 10DVQ as well as the JL Audio 10W3v3 subs. I am wanting to get 2 of whichever pair I choose.
I am planning on getting the JL Audio 500/1 amp....does anyone have any experience with that amp? Will that be enough to run a pair of the subs I am thinking of buying? or is there an amp that would amtch well wit the subs i allready have?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the Kappas are 400rms so I would think you'd need an 800/1 amp or a 400/2 rms amplifier to power them right?
The kappa is actually a really cool speaker: http://manuals.harman.com/INF/...).pdf

i know its kinda cool but how well would it perform?
i dont want to blast my windows out but i do want some volume for my car. I have heard from a lot of people that the JL 500/1 does put out a ton of power but is that sound clear when it comes out?. I listen to literally everything except country so i need a well rounded sub.
would the Kappa or the Kappa perfects work better? or will the reference ones sound alright that i have now?
im not that well educated on amps so i need a well rounded amps that will play rap, rock and classical really well.
Or what do you guys think about the Alpine MRP-M850 that is 500 watts rms, mono-block class d amp?

do you happen to have a pic of the subs you are looking for because i have some 10 in w3 i'm trying to get rid of and an alpine amp...LMK
The JL Audio 500/1 is a very good amp with very good SQ, it is 500W RMS into 1.5-4 ohms @ 11V-14.5V, for best SQ, you will need to find 2 SVC 2 ohm 200W-250W continues, [RMS] subs, or 2 DVC 4 ohm subs.
The 10W3v3-2 would work, but you would be underpowered, they are 300W subs, although as long as you do not drive the amp into constant clipping they would sound very good.
For Infinity, get these...

Keep in mind, the subs performance is directly related to it's install, and proper box volume is critical.

i actually have those exact subs right now, i specially made fiberglass encosures that are almost exactly(within a few ounces of water...i used water to measure the volume as well as do a leak test) to the subs specs. i just used a kenwood 460 watt amp that im guessing didnt even put out 300 watts rms so it wasnt too good for the subs. the subs didnt sound nasty at all, they just didnt have the punch i was looking for. Here is the amp I had, the KAC-7201

are alpine amps good as well? i was looking at the MRP-M850 that puts out 500x1

Yes Alpine makes a pretty good amp, the Alpine MRP-M850 is rated at 1x500W RMS into a 4 ohm load @ 14.4V and 800W RMS into 2 ohms, IMO the 500/1 is a much better amp, although the Alpine will make more power into a 2 ohm load.

is it a much better amp because it sounds cleaner? or what makes it a better amp than the alpine? I am just wondering because i can get a hookup for the alpine amp but, i want a really good amp so ill have to go with the JL....im just wondering y its better than the Alpine amp. Ill be using a 4 ohm load.
im wanting a really good solid sub sound but i dont need it to bust out my windows; is that possible with the JL 500/1 and 2 infinity reference 4ohm dvc subs? im just adding this in because everyone iv seen talk about the JL says its more wattage than what it is rated for

For one thing the JL amp makes 1x500W RMS into 1.5-4 ohms and it does it at as low as 11V the Alpine needs 14.4V to make 1x500W RMS, the JL uses a regulated power supply, [RIP].
The advantage the Alpine amp has is it will make 1x800W RMS into a 2 ohm load.
Both of these amps are very good, not the best, but top 10 stuff for sure.
