Hi all, I need some help here to build up my b16a.
First of all, following is my engine set up:
- ctr piston in b16a stock block
- ctr valvetrain, injector, intake manifold.
Other modification on my car:
- ARC intake box
- mugen 4-1 header
- spoon n1 catback
- spoon throttle body
- oem ecu > will get a programmable ecu.
Due to different constrain in my area, i must stick with b16a block. (No b16b for now, i want to see how much b16a first and i have tight budget) May I have some advice for the above 3 types of cam? And i'm open for any criticize on my set up too.
I want to build my engine able to rev up to 9000-9100rpm, and looking for around 180+whp. More concerning on endurance than performance.
Spoon, i know this cam is not powerful at all, but it is closet to stock, and i can stick with the oem R's valvetrain, so I wonder according to my set up, is it possible to build up to 180whp after ecu tuning? For Jun 3 or toda B, they can do alot better, but I wonder if itr spring are compatible.
Appreciate for your comments!

check my build thread. 180whp(dynojet) b16a with CTR pistons and JUN3 camshafts

We tuned my car via CROME EMS. Its better to get a better valvespring like TODA or JUN if you are going for JUN 3 or TODA B.
I noticed your from Kowloon, what part? Im at HK 2-3 times a year for shopping
I always go to top racing and GP Shop for my parts.

Some ppl & shops telling me the jun 3 cam will broke easily, did anyone heard about that? Is it cause by mis-installation or what?
Damn... 180whp is exactly what i'm looking for. Seems like we have similar mods; how much do you think i can get if i go for spoon cam or toda B cam? Is toda B and spoon has better mid range hp?
Yes, I'm from HK and living in Kowloon. Those shops you mentioned are the biggest parts dealer in HK!!

x2
however you WILL need uprated valvesprings

before when I was using a set of toda b on my other car, I got 172whp peak but better midrange and higher torque than my JUN3.
If your going for a set of spoon cams, Ive also used this before but I wasnt able to dyno it.
I estimate around 170-173whp(b16a CTR pistons/ITR intake manifold) with a very good tune.

Finally, I found a guy has experience with spoon cam!! Comparing this with toda B, any comments? I heard many ppl saying spoon is a NG cam, is it real?
Besides, do you mean spoon cam and toda b cam should having about same whp? Shouldn't toda b has better result?
I'm still having trouble to pick for a camshaft. After I put it on then i will tune it on dyno.
