Default b16a 180whp dyno / pure1600 / JUN3 / Hytech / 1/4 mile time

I recently dynoed my spare 1st gen b16a

jun3 cams
toda camgears
RM gen 2 valvesprings/retainers
ITR intake valves
ctr std pistons
oem 3 layer hg
64mm tb/p30 IM
spoon 4-2-1 header/2.25" collector
stock injectors
stock 1st gen b16a cylinder head
short ram intake (no filter)
93 octane unleaded

tuned using crome free

after tuning it at the street, i made 165.5whp and 110.57tq after about an hour tuning on the dyno, we managed to get only 168.13whp and 112.82tq(camgears at +1,-1)

i need some comments and suggestions, im aiming for 185++ in the local dynojet. TIA

That cost you some power-get a better intake, or try the short ram with a filter.
A Toda header would give you better numbers. Porting the head will also improve things. A ported ITR intake manifold would be good for at least 5 whp and as much as 10 whp.

wouldnt my torque curve get hurt by using a ported ITR IM?

the toda header is kinda out of my budget right now, but there is one seller here in manila who is selling a z.speed(hytech copy) header that actually looks like the RAGE header that I'm considering.

If you are using a stock B16 IM, you will lose some low end torque switching to the ITR intake manifold. To extract power out of a B16 you need to wind it up and let those Jun 3's breathe-that's when the ported IM and headwork will make the motor sing.

numbers seem kinda low. What's the rest of the exhaust setup? Is it mandrel bent 2.25"? I would go to 2.5" myself. And is the first gen b16a head alot more restrictive than the later gens? I'm betting a good valve job would help out the flow situation a lot, of course porting it would be even better. I like the power under the curve the B16 IM gives myself, but that's me. If i still had mine I would port the B16IM out first and give that a try. I see too many B16's with ITR mani's that just have a terrible midrange curve. I miss my B16, that motor is just awesome. I don't care what people say about it, stick with it.

steve

Wow that thing is a screamer...I'd do some headwork and get optimal manifolds on both ends. Omni has ITBs that just came out, and they're easily tunable from what Honda Tuning says....

Yea my motor really sings at high rpm, but I still need to get the proper manifolds to extract more from her

I can tell you right off that your motor is clearly making more power.
You are running alot of restriction right now that is hampering actual
power you are not getting to use. I would increase injector size to
about 270cc-310cc and move into a 2.5" header & exhaust.

An ITR intake manifold/or AEBS and a Rage 909 Header w/ 2.5" exhaust
system could be good for 12-15whp on your setup tuned PEAK.
Kteller.com has some good budget systems available.

With the cam you have in there with an unported head, 64mm TB and
2.5" (stepped, long 4-2-1 design header) outlet through the muffler
Your power output will be in the 185-188whp range at your compression
ratio of about 11.2:1 tuned.

A ported head with a valvejob cut for your cam, talk to Tom@Portflow.
ITR or AEBS manifold ported with the header and a bit more compression
and camshaft, you could see 200-210whp on the stock bore and stroke.

For more info you can check the sig. Maybe our video can be a resource
to you. Let me know!

Your car is strong where it is, however if you make some changes to
how your engine breathes right now you will see a difference right
away in the WHOLE power curve.

Hope this helps,

Mike
