96 civic hatchback RATTLE!!!!! eugh!!!
Ok besides the short shifter I have that rattles (which i dont care about at all) There is one other rattle and its in the back.
Location:
Rear Right Passenger Seat
Description:
it sounds like its coming from inside the trim some where and rattles while I drive, the trim around the window close to the roof is about as specific as I can get, close to the hatch pump spring thingy that allows the hatch to raise up when you push up on it....

ohh. rear bumper. where the rear bumper meets the fender right by the wheel. that screw there is probably loose. mine was on the left side rear. fixed it just by tightening up that screw.

X2 go tighten all of those screws in fact. also hasports and h2b doesnt really help the rattle situation

double check those little yellow plastic mounts that hold the back plastic speaker panels to the body, mine were doing the same thing, so I Epoxied them in there, no i just have a problem with my front passenger or somewhere around there

thanks for the help guys! ill have to check those out, i too would rather have road noise rather than music panels lol. Once I get my stuff finished painted which should be this wednesday ill fix some loose ends here and there in my buddies garage.
if you have $$$$ its kinda easy to silence these panels. Rubber tape is your friend.
Also anywhere there is a 10mm bolt inside (except grounds) use a few rubber washers. Anykind of sound absorbing is good, since sound travels through solid objects. Putting a barier anywhere to stop the sound is a wonderfull thing. So any metal on metal contact, seperate that with some rubber foam or just plain old rubber. Good stuff is that asphault stuff that has the aluminum backing. This will provide a dampener for sound to travel through.
Sound abosorbing consists of using like dry cell foam to absorb the sound, eliminating the high sound waves.
However fixing the metal on metal contacts, or plastic or whatever is the 1st thign to do (all the way down to your suspension bushings)

suspension bushings are rubber themselves. are you suggesting that you take out all the bolts and put rubber washers? thats insanity.

maybe I didnt make my self clear. Anywhere INSIDE the car, or engine bay where there is a bolt/screw (not for grounding points), put a rubber washer or two, to add some vibration dampening qualities to your chassis. I dont recall ever saying anything about putting them in your suspension parts. I think the only thign i said was fix your warn out bushings
oh and I was wrong about the 10mm bolt, the head of the bolts/screws are 10mm
