Default How messed is my ride going to be?

I have to get an emissions test every two years because that's the law where I live. So I went to an Oil Changers chain location to get it done, it was the closest place I knew of that did it.

But the expletive thing is that the expletive n00b technician stalled my car 5 times before he got it on the testing rig! Five freaking times, after the fifth time, rather than stall again he freaking revs up to like 3000rpm and burns my clutch so badly that I could smell it from a good distance away. Then I tell them, "get this guy out of my car, he is not going to use my car to learn stick." Which I should have said way earlier. So the next useless tech gets in and freaking stalls again! I was about to snap! He says "no, no, I know how to drive don't worry." In my head I thought, if this happens one more time I am leaving, I didn't want to say anything because if I did I would have cussed them out so badly that they probaly would have failed me on the spot.

Anyways, I passed, that's the only reason why I left quietly. But expletive, how bad is that for my car? And what's the deal with a supposedly reputable chain running a shop without a tech capable of driving stick? Man, I am so annoyed.

It's not good...just burns up the clutch alot quicker.

Next time just say that you would like to pull it into the shop for the sake of your clutch.

I am defintely going to be writing a letter to their head office to complain. If they are not able to service stick vehicles (which is obviously the case) then they should advise customers of that beforehand.

I do not consider myself a customer of their's any longer. Next time I need an oil change, or an emissions test, I will go to a garage that has employees trained properly so that my car doesn't have to be beat-on like that.

They say you learn something new everyday, today I learned not to use Oil Changers... ever.

The sad reality is that the "techs" at these lube shops aren't ASE certified. Matter of fact, a lot of them are high school kids. (or high school drop-outs) You would probably freak out if you knew that half the mechanics at most service shops aren't certified either. This is why you go to reputable shops and ask to see certification. When I first started in the industry I got a major wake up call as to how little these shops actually care. Trying to be the good guy (honest) only got me ostracized from my co-workers. Hence the reason I no longer work in this industry. Fabrication ftw!

When I was in high school I worked at an oil changing shop. I would vacuum and wash windows mostly. Anyways, I wasn't comfortable driving other peoples standards to the pit so I had my manager do it.....I guess I am more worried about other peoples things. Sorry about your car dude---they should have at least done it for free and given you some free oil changes, right?

Shoot, I always ask them before hand. "Can you drive a manual?" Some say yes, some have me pull it around.

I would have let the little bastard burn the clutch totally out of the car and then forced them to pay for a new clutch. On top on that, make them get you a rental until you get your car back.

They are 100% liable for ANY damage done to your car while testing it.
