in the mind of a car thief
how do they prepare? do they scope you out for days? you think most of them carry weapons on them just in case you try to save your car, they might shoot you? i feel like it's kind of dangerous to own a honda, just in case you face them mano y mano and something ugly might happen.
nope they wont have a gun with them. that would give them a worst jail time than stealing a car. hit two bird with one stone. right. they are not that stupid. the most dangerous weapon they'll have is probably the flat head or the breaker bar. and the scoping out. hell yea. that's a for sure. they come by your house time to time to see if its there. what time etc. or maybe if you are at a mall it would be random. just some thoughts of my mind if i was a thief. LOL
Last time thieves attempted to jack my ride it was most likely a drive by spot, and then using a worn honda key they attempted to steal it but gave up and stole my pod holder and pods...
The time before it was two punks (saw them the day before and stupidly didn't think they'd return) who used a flat head screwdriver to pop the passenger window out, hit the lock tab and then they attempted to break the steering lock to push the car to a more "safe/secure" place to then strip it I guess, they gave up and left it in my driveway and stole my skunk 2 shift ****...
I figure there are people who search/follow people and there is also a group that is a on the spot type of theft. My co-worker told me his buddies car got tow'd from the parking lot at the community college while he was in class... Just make sure to have full coverage insurance, have modified vehicle/parts insurance with pics and reciepts to prove so and levels of security (kill switches, alarm, other physical locks...)...

In all honesty I've just come too the belief that if they want your car there gonna get it...the most dangerous weapon I've seen theifs too have would be a drill..your best bet is too not own a honda till you get too the age where you keep it in a garage
I just dont get thieves. I think they need to just cut a finger off every time they get busted. Then if they do it more then 3 times, cut off their "unit". It's annoying why we have to pay all this money to protect our own equipment.
Theives suck!

Fatalism, get out. Giving into thieves is like giving into terrorists, they win.
There's been alot (like at least 15 in the past 2.5 months) of RSX thefts in my area, recently they left behind a bb pistol.. Their armatures though, smashing windows, bringing the wrong K-Pro maps. Stupid monkeys.

Here is some food for thought ...
You might want to be very cautious about where you take your car to have it serviced, repaired, and/or have stuff installed. You give out vital statistics about yourself at those places. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes.
For example: You drop your car at Honda, Circuit City, Best Buy ... what ever it maybe, and you leave your keys, remote, garage door remote, ect. It isnt hard to make copies of these items. This can usually be done in minutes. Then, the employees have access to your information, such as address. So be cautious of your surroundings, and becareful who you let around your belongings.

Or in my most recent case they used a worn key, which in thier hast broke it off in the ignition (forgot the push in then turn to remove the key).... can't stop that from happening, and it was was obvious this key had been used for other cars as you could see the tumbler pin imprints on the key...
this is what happens to me:
i am drivin in town, pumpin my sick stereo, if not the cleanest/loudest in town..
some f*ckers follow me for a bit, ill pull into a random driveway and they leave, probably come back at 2 am and aree like, sheeeeet tis guy dont even live here!
so one time they got into it, stole a bunch of stuff but the almighty smart honda trunk lock prevented them from stealing my $1,500 gorilla in the trunk
advice, dont let anyone know you have it when driving around your house, aka, dont turn it up, dont tell a whole bunch of friends you got it, more and more people r gonna know u got it
also an alarm is a goo idea. i need one!!

i just try to stay really discreet, but thieves have definatley been following my em1. it got broken into my college apartment parking lot. they must've tried for a while to try to steal my car, but gave up. after that, he stole my skunk2 shift ****, cluster, seat-belt covers, and my windshield wipers. pretty gay. i'm adding another level of security to my ride, viper 5901, but i'm just trying to figure out the mind of the thieves, to better protect myself.

and example of one type, notice the lock tumbler...
Yea, a flat bed tow truck and I got a whole car.... Seriously most locks are a waste of time BUT it's a layer of security. A good thief can pick a standard pad lock no big deal but it's all in if the time is worth wasting for it to be done.
Lojack/GPS ftw. There are several options availible, and some insurance companies tend to give decent discounts when these items are installed.
A high-volume 'pro' theif would scope a high-traffic area, take down plate numbers, visit each house, and pick off the easy targets. The next step down are those that look into driveways and come back later. The last step down is the total oppertunist, which would be a parking lot theif.
All look for tell-tale "bling" - rims, loud exhaust, stickers, jDm bullshit, carbon fiber anything, and slammed suspensions. But in the case of most Hondas, the "H" itself is enough to scream "steal me!". They want a car with lots of high-demant/high-value parts they can resell easily in used condition. A decent alarm will prevent a good % of theft, and scare away a large % of theives. For example, 10% of an EM1's value put into an alarm would get you lots of protection.

not to alarm you or anything but that doesnt really work...im not a thief or anything but i once locked my keys in the trunk and i didnt have a spare...i had locked that so called smart trunk lock and i simply got a flat head didnt put it in that much just the tip and turned it very easy...it unlocks way too easy...just a heads up
i grew up in houston, tx on the southside and car theft was not rare around there.
i must admit in my teenage years i was not stealing cars but i knew people who did.
they ALWAYS carry guns when they go to get a car.
there would usually be 6-10 people invalved in each theft.
there would always be 2 getaway vehicles and the driver of those always carried a gun.
who ever was acually getting in the car and stealing it wouldnt carry a gun in case they were cought but belive it there were plenty of guns around.
depending on the car sometimes thet will just run away
(cheaper cars worth less) or they might pull guns to make you go back inside, orr there was a case where someone tried to play hero (a neighbor) and they jumped the guy and stole the car.
in all honesty there is no way to stop commited car theives.
you would be surprised the extreme lengths thies people go to, just to get a good motor or some rims.

In Total: THIEVES MUST DIE!
I dont like to admit this about my past...yeah anyway you can all figure that part out on your own. But I will say bottom line is aside from a garage with a damn good lock. or a well trained attack dog in the front seat. thieves will get your car. And most of them do carry guns of at least peper spray/tasers anything that could enable them to get away and leave you unable to call for help. Belive me i did my time and have definatly learned my lesson, Thats my past however if anyone wants some good insider advice on how to not get your **** jacked ( and im talking about Radar detectors wallets and other misc expensive **** people always leave in their cars... not just the whole car) PM me.
