Default SENSORS>>>>TILT / SHOCK / GLASS SENSORS ????

My alarm is wack. I've been experiencing so much issue with it. I guess its becuase its my first alarm installed. Anyhow, my shock sensor is not working so well. I honestly believe anyone would be able to stand on top of the car and jump up and down, and the alarm would not sould off... Heres my questions guys...Would any type of sensor work for any type of alarm?? OR Would that type of alarm require a [specific / particular] sensor? Does name brand really matters? Example: Can I use a DEI sensor on a NON- DEI product? AND would it be effective?? Can I get 4 sensors and put them on each corner of the car and hook up to the alarm?? Im not sure if it works the same as hooking up speakers...Very interested in any remarks or thoughts.. Thanks.

If your shock sensor is not working properly it is either defective, improperly installed or adjusted.

Depending on the alarm and the sensor, most sensors can be installed on just about any alarm, there are exceptions.

Yes, brand name will make a difference.

With a properly installed and adjusted, [and working] shock sensor you will only need one to cover the whole car, unless you drive a Honda stretch limo, in that case you may want a second one at the back of the car.

You do not need a glass sensor if you have a properly installed and adjusted shock sensor, although a tilt sensor is not a bad idea.

Any extra sensors that are installed will have to be connected to an AUX sensor input, if more then one sensor is connected to the same input you must use diodes on the sensors outputs to isolate them from each other. 94

BTW what is the make and model of the alarm you have?

Everyone is going to laugh, but my alarm is a Pyle PWD501. This is my first install and experiences with any alarm. The sensor it comes with is not as senstive as I wanted to be. Would you recommend any name brand Tilt and Shock Sensor I can purchase??

Shock sensors are crap. Glass break sensors are the ****.

fcm, if I ever come visit Canada, I will gladly smash your window w/out triggering the shock sensor, and of course I will pay to have it replaced.

Im thinking about getting the DEI 520T [battery back-up] and DEI 507m [tilt sensor] (which were highly recommended) would these work on my alarm that I have. I would sappose the tilt sensor would work. since you mention already. How about the back up battery? Or does anyone know of a good shock sensor..

Yes.You can add the DEI back-up battery to your alarm. I agree w/ Suspended Hatch about the glass break sensor. The back up battery can be added to just about any aftermarket alarm system.

Glass sensors are only triggered by breaking glass or the sound of keys rapping on the glass.

Aight, Thanks man. That really helps out a lot......I made up my mind and will be buying tonight on ebay. This is on my list, DEI 520T [back-up battery] / DEI 507M [tilt sensor] / DEI 506T [glass sensor]... How would the installation work?? On my alarm i have an input for the orginal sensor.. its 2 wires [white / black]...FCM has mention the use of diode.. I have read about it in the HOW TO section, but is not specific detail. I would just thinking of hooking everything up like hooking up speakers..... can you clarify or summarize..

BTW if I ever go down to the USofA I will gladly break one of your windows without triggering the glass break sensor, a sheet of mylar a little water and an old spark plug, and I won't even get any glass all over the seat. 94
