Shock sensor, not very sensitive?
Hey,
I just recently discovered a shock sensor while doing some wiring on my car, (car alarm was fitted by previous owner), I'd researched my particular alarm before and knew that the alarm model came with one, but i could never get it to trigger (or find the module).
So i armed the system, and gave the shock sensor a flick and it set the alarm off, so i thought that it was just in a bad position maybe? So i relocated it, still with the sensor at maximum sensitivity, and it only triggers with a forceful hit to the windshield.
Any idea's to increase sensitivity? It's a Mongoose M20 or m20s not quite sure which one.
Oh, and also my remote only works from within a 2m radius of the car, i've replaced the battery in the remote but that didn't do anything, what can i do to increase the distance the alarm will arm at? I've had keyless entry systems that have worked from 50m or so away.
TIA
Steve.

Honestly never delt with that brand during my installations but I usually always mounted the shock sensor to the steering wheel shaft housing. Its solid and usually get away with having a normal sensor set at half or below. Also may depend how hard you had to hit the sensor itself for it to go off. may be old. Can always just splice in a new one doesnt matter the model there all pretty much the same.
As for the distance, you might look to see if there is an antenna anywhere off the alarm and try to extend it up the pilar. Might also research the alarm and see if they offer any extended ranch antenna's for it. My old autopage had one with a 2 way remote so the remote told me what was going on. had an average range of 500M
But all and all the best I have seen for my tastes if the compustar, Has the autostart for the manual trans and has a model with up to a mile range

Hmm, thanks for the reply.
It had already been located on the steering column. I might try buying a new one. I'll also find the aerial (didn't know they had one lol)
Thanks again!

I usually just look at the brain for all the info. Most stereo/car stores who deal with alarms will have sensors you can order or buy, Can always look online to most are 2-3 wire can just cut and solder the new one in if the plug doesnt make
