hey guys i have been reading and reading and i can't find what i'm looking for. I know this is the ITR forum, But i have a 98 CTR motor and tranny. I want to upgrade the final drive to the ATS 4.9. Now for the question. Will I need to buy the complete Final Drive kit, or do I just need to buy the Final Drive itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

im pretty sure you gotta buy the kit man....you can contact ATS about it. But it should come ina package with everything you need.

 

do you see my delima.... everything i read says that if you don't have a 98 up tranny you need the kit. But i have a 98 tranny, thats JDM. But i don't wanna buy just the Final Drive and tear down my tranny to find out I need the Kit. I also don't want to buy the kit to find out i just need the Final Drive.

I was in your shoes just a few months ago.

JDM CTR EK9 tranny = USDM ITR tranny

Both of which are 4.40 FDR's

Instead of getting additional parts from ATS and paying a higher price, get a GEAR-X through HT member name KIWI. The final drive he sells is higher quality, less in cost, and you will not need the additional parts. I have one installed in my own USDM ITR tranny and absolutely love it.

 

just curious....how much do they run?

 

another option for a 4.9fd is mfactory which also doesnt require the jdm parts
