Skunk2 Camshafts for our Turbo S2000
The only thing lacking in out setup was a set of good camshafts. Having previously made 600whp on pump gas, we felt that before we attempt any more power we needed some cams.
Well, as many S2000 guys know, cams for a F20C are EXPENSIVE. Well after some checking around, i noticed that Skunk2 had some new camshafts available, for a REASONABLE PRICE. The price for 1 Set of Skunk2 camshafts is equal to 1 CAMSHAFT from some other companies for the S2000.
I ordered a set of Skunk2 Stage 2s for the "S" and i received them yesterday. Grinning like mad men, we installed them. I wasnt going to post anything until after we dynoed, but there is nothing like the sound of a camming turbo S2000.

i have used countless skunk2 products and have always loved their performance and quality. Great customer service, great products, great pricing!
We have to install a new oil pump in her then i will have dyno numbers.

the owner, installer or tuner either did not choose the right cam or did not know how to degree them in... or did not know how to tune.
How does a cam not make power?

Any Skunk2 NA camshaft i have run has made awesome power, PERIOD.
from my 237whp 2.0L LSVTEC with PRO3s to an oem ITR motor making 202 with PRo1s.
Stock block H22 with PRo1s making 20-30whp over stock cams.
K series making 231whp with Skunk2 Stage 2s.
I really cant say i have ever had a REAL problem with Skunk2 Products. If i ever had an issue, they always took car of me an the situation fast which is all anyone can ever ask for.
Now, im not expecting much from these cams because i have yet to really see a big gain in a TURBO car with aftermarket camshafts. But we were willing to take the risk, and based on previous experience with Skunk2, we hope to see a good power gain.
NA cars the Skunk2 PRO series is pretty much THE CAM to run.
FI, we will have to see how these cams run in our S2K

maybe i should have phrased my statement a little different.
When you've done this as long as I have, you see trends.
Their NA cams are ok. their newer cams are def better than past, as they redesigned them, and needed too. Plain and simple, there are other manufactures that will make more power than skunk2 cams.
their FI cams, I have yet to see one make more power than a stock cam.
As a matter of fact, they contacted me about testing some cams for them, upon telling them sure, id do it, however, they better be seriously sure its going to make decent power as i would be sharing the results, as I am non-biased, they said, of course we'll get those out to you... i ironically never got any in the mail.
they do make nice cam gears tho.

interesting you say all this because a customer and someone who I have talked to for years now tested two different sets and lost power on BOTH as well as got valve float.

I havent seen good gains from ANY aftermarket camshaft on a turbo car. These are the first cams i have tested on a turbo car, however, i chose their NA application cause we liked them better and Mr. Shagday agreed.
I wasnt aware they had any "turbo" cams out. there was rumor about B series cams, but i never saw a set. i think their OLD Stage 1s are now what they sell to turbo guys, and they should, they are similar to ITR cams and yield similar results.
I would venture to say their NA cams are better than anyones out there. Area under the curve, cost, power, i have not seen anything come close. the PRO cams are hard to beat.
I mean, they run 9s all motor, they must be doing something right.
FYI im not a skunk2 dealer at all, and i have done testing for skunk2 and posted results where they have LOST before as well.

Care to share who? What? and What?
I'm sure there are reasons...
We send cams to people to try because we cannot build every combo in house. We know that some of these attempts are a shot in the dark but its an agreement we both make and some times worth the effort.
EXAMPLE: Kenny Tran (when running a Turbo B Series) was using a "Cam" and was happy w/ the performance... he was running fast and consistant. When we had approached him about running a set of B Pro 1's he was game, not knowing what to expect? We had reason to believe that this would be a great combo (detail in the design) so we were pretty confident, it payed off for both of us as this combo yeilded over a 100 HP gain w/ no change to boost.
If he lost power or made no more power over the OG set-up it would have simply been a good effort. I dont think he would have said, Skunk2 cams suck or dont make power...
Remember it was a test!
Valve Float... I am curious about.
