Is my clutch gone?
Hi,
lately my clutch has been worked hard, and today, i did several launches...and no matter what i did...(even a clutch drop and pedal to the metal). at about 5K rpm and on, the dash seems as if it's gonna come at me, like my change and **** shook outta my ash tray. that's my clutch not being able to grab any more right? and it also slips like nuts in 2nd gear now. i just wnat to make sure it's my clutch being gone and not anything else.

i dont know if this will help.. but it may. (yeah yeah... it is about a mini van) my mom... has a toyota previa 5 speed and when the clutch went out on there it was like you put it in gear and gas it.. and the RPMs would go up to like 5000 but you would be going 10mph... and you have to accelerate VERY slowly to get anywhere. however, in my civic, when i romp on it a bit.. i get the same thing you are describing... i remember, i did a... 5500 rpm clutch drop maybe higher (stock clutch) and it burned the hell out of it and the tires, but it was shaking like crazy, very violent like my CD player was going to pop out of the dash... (i dont EVER do anything close to this anymore...) well needless to say... my clutch is still fine... i think they can overheat, which may cause some of your symtoms. because if you read above (the 5 speed mini van thing) thats what happened to the clutch when it was out. and that was when it had 150,000 miles on it. so....unless you damaged an axle, or something... or who knows what... how is it daily driving? im just rambling... i hope some of that may have helped... -R
It sounds like your clutch. The same thing just happened to me about 2 months ago had to get a new clutch, went with ACT extreme clutch.
If you are practicing launching u should give your clutch time to cool off in between runs if not will burn it out quickly.
You going to put the new clutch in yourself or a mechanic? If you take it to a mechanic first just to make sure it is the clutch and not something else.
