Default hit abs in rain = SNAP

here's the deal guys. i'm driving down the road when the guy in front of me jacks his brakes, i do the same and abs kicks on b/c i have **** tires. anyway, i then hear a loud *** clunk/snap sound. and the car is pulling like crazy to one side. everytime i shift it clunks and pulls to one side.so i drive it to the nearest place to pull over with lights and as i'm going i hear 1 or 2 metal pieces fall off my car and onto the ground.

i jacked the car up with the **** *** scissor jack and the suspension looked ok. i wasn't losing tranny fluid and the axles seemed ok.

any of ideas what to look for?

check your sway bar end links, also check for any cracks on the weld in the engien bay around the shocks. you may wanta try takeing a look at all 4 calipers.

If its pulling to one side, It sounds like a stuck caliper.

also, check your axles.

also, ABS units DO break.

i checked up and all around the shocks and springs. they seem ok.

it pulls a little to the left, but as soon as i let off the gas it jerks violently to the left. i'm assuming it's the axle. i did leak quite a bit of grease out of the cv shaft awhile back before i fixed the boot. this leads me to believe that maybe the cvs are messed up. anyway to check for broken axle without dissembling the damn thing?

Lift your two front wheels off the ground and try and wiggle them side to side and up and down. Last car I saw with a problem like yours, it was a bad ball joint

all my balljoints are brand new.

the nuts and bolts that fell off the car while i was driving worry me. especially since i couldn't find any evidence of something missing a washer, nut, or bolt.

i'll check the axles in a few days. thx guys

The axle dosen't make sense if the problem happens during braking and accelerating. It sounds more like suspension. What happens when you go to reverse, and then brake hard?

Maybe its the radius rod bushings. That would be my first guess.
Good luck, and be carefull if you are driving.

it only pulls hard on acceleration. and i notice that the passenger side cv shaft near the tranny wobbles. i put the car on jackstands and ran the car in 5th gear and noticed the wobble. it also makes a clunky sound near the tranny or the drivers side axle. also, i can fee a vibration through the drivers side cv shaft when the car is in gear and at speed.

what should i do guys? i'm gonna put some tranny fluid in to see if that's causing it. and then maybe replace the cv shaft first?

sounds like maybe you fragged your wheel bearing? Also, check the control arms, and like everyone else says, cv's

oh man, i just found out why the huge pull. i sheared off the front of my radius rod . i didn't notice it because the underbody splash guard was covering it. the washer and the nut are the parts that fell off the car while i was driving.

hopefully this will clear up the axle problem. time to start checking out radius rod prices.

I do. I replaced my crossmember & radius rods with a PFIspeed traction bar. Just pm me and let me know what side you need.
