what noises do turbos make when they are going out?
I am wondering if my turbo might be going out... now just to warn this is a wrx, its a stock motor and tranny but it kind of makes a wine noise when i get in the 6k range. you guys might be able to help me. that would be great

One sign of an ailing turbo IS increased whining. Interestingly enough execessive whining is also a sign of a girlfriend gone bad! 
In either case, replacement is the recco'd course of action.
