Default Is it safe the run with the IAC valve sensor disconected?

My car idles at 3000 rpm all the time. I decided to unhook the IAC valve sensor and see what happens. It idles at 1500 rpm. I was wondering if this would cause a problem in the long run. I get a check engine light, but want to know some real consequences.

sounds like you have a SERIOUS vacuum leak someplace!

fix that and plug your IACV back in...

(no real consequnces if you dont though)

no problems or performance loss, but when u unplug your IACV your idle should drop below 1000 rpms. Sounds Like you have a vacuum leak. Check your throttle body gasket and all vacuum lines going to the manifold. Also check the idle screw on the throttle body
