Wut pistons to go with... and wut compression??
Hey guys, wuts up...
Ive sent the motor out(to Gord Bush Performance), and he said he liked JE and Wiseco... and didnt like Arias cuz something about the skirt... He said i should go with an 81.5mm bore(cuz im already .25 over) and about 11.5:1 comp. ratio I have CTR pistons in it now, and im pretty sure that comp. is over 12.1.... I asked if it would be reliable to run an aftermarket 12.1 comp. piston for a dd 4 months in the year. He said that its dangerous if i were to get a bad batch of gas or something it wouldnt be good...
wut do u guys think i should run??... is 12.1 ok??
Im running a b18c5
Skunk2 Pro 2 cams
Skunk2 valve springs and retainers
balanced and knifed crank...
Let me know wut u guys are running and how its workin out for u....
If u need to know anything else about my setup let me know...
Thanx

that depends on the rest of the parts used and the quality of tune

you should be fine the max. though for street is no more than 12.5...with a sweet tune you should be rocking...and you wont need the knife edged crank for a street car (thought about it myself but not worth it at all)honda cranks are perfect! and nice cam choice too what do you plan on doing for tuning wise hondata?? stand alone??
+1 to a good tune. You can daily whatever compression you want with a good tune. Is 12:1 safe hell yeah i did it for a longtime and never had a problem with detonation. Just make sure you get a proper tune.
why not kinife edge??....
can u or someone explain please...
Also im not too sure about the tune...
"All motor mark" tunes my car... I know he does a great job, but im not too sure on wut he does it on??

I had Gord take weight off my crank for my build (I'm sure you've seen the thread on it). He did not "knife edge" it nor does he recomend doing that. He took off about 4-5lbs off.
Here is a peak at it:

A tune can consist of many things, however usually the car gets a wideband stuck in it and its run till it stops making power, or shouldnt be reved higher, on the dyno (or street for a street tune.) Then the tuner goes over the air fuel ratio and timing, stuff like that and then adjust things according to make the most power while keeping reliability.
why not knife edge??...these cranks come out of a warm forging process and the counterweights are correctly engineered and sized to withstand vibrations underload, crank twisting, and also give enough inertial force to spin those rods effectively...the most critical areas on the cranks are where the ground rod journal sections meet the counterweights you take too much off and youll see what will happen at 8000 rpm...i wanted to clean my crank up a bit but the cons actually outweighed the pros...anyone else to back this up??
The machine work for my engine was done by Gord Bush almost two years ago. It is a 12.2 to 1 comp LSV motor and it runs 365 days a year. Good tuning is the key if you want the motor to last.
my motor was built with grd bush te man knows his ****
now if mississauga engines told u that then u do the exact opposite
gord bush is the man
all motor mark uses crome to tune and he is gonna be really fast this year low 11's all season
