Default itr ported intake manifold vs skunk 2 pro for jdmb18c

actually the topic title says it all...whould you prefer a ported intake from portflow for example or a skunk 2 pro one?the motor is a stock jdm b18c type r repprogrammed with aem cai, toda header and cat back 2 1/2 exchaust...
would you consider good value for money tha changing of the stock itr intake with one of the above intakes systems?which are the estimated whp gains?are we talking about 1-2 whp or sth much better like 4-5whp
is there any dyno charts availiable from people who changed their intake manifolds?
thank you!!!

Search in the All Motor or Drag Racing forum, there's SO many dyno test of EVERY part there. Espeically ported vs. aftermarket, that's a famous battle between whp numbers. Only people with sponsors or lots of money can actually do that kind of thing but the information is there. Hope this helps Narrow your searches to one or two words and skim though the pages. ie, ITR manifold, ported, skunk2 manifold, intake manifold, dyno.

Here's some I found:

racingangel:I have seen that dyno from import builders before,it is propably from a guy here in greece ho programmes honda ecus...it is from his car actually..but a second opinion is not sth bad!

spoon spec r: when I enter a forum I always try to search first but in honda tech I cant use the search function correctly for some reason....I searched and no resaults came up!!!mayby I used too many words!!!thank you!

Is it even worth getting a skunk 2 over a stock ITR IM?

I know I'm probably missing something and I am probably being ignorant, but can we really expect that much out of a different intake manifold on a B18C5?

Aren't the intake manifolds pretty well tuned and matched in the first place?

Like the Spoon TB, I don't think I would tend to buy a new intake manifold for an ITR motor until I was in the last stages of tuning.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, though/

George - the stock ITR IM flows well but there is also a lot of improvement that can be done as seen below:

IB CNC'd:

If you've done mods like I/H/E, cams, internals etc - it's a very good upgrade to do.

IB doesn't do any main chamber work, and they also cut the TB flange in 1/2. My Endyn ported IM had both, an enlarged main chamber, larger runners, and no cut flange to worry about leaking (alignment).

i agreed the IB manifold looks mean as hell (even though it still the stock piece ). plus who gives a rats *** if you can see the welds if the gains justify the time and money spent. if you want a show car that looks pretty then sell your R. thats my .02

To me that "scar" across the manifold looks great. It's a hint at the level of work the engine has received

If looks were of concern, you can always grind down the weld and powdercoat the manifold. You wouldn't be able to see a seam.

As for the comparison, there are a few dyno charts floating around of the Import Builders IM versus stock ITR IM's on near stock/mild 1.8L motors. They do pick up a generous amount of midrange power, and the topend is improved a bit as well.

The original Skunk2 unit was very similar in design to the ITR IM, with the exception of a 65mm throat for accepting larger throttlebodies, along with a slightly larger plenum volume.

The Skunk2 Pro IM has longer runners, and a larger plenum volume compared to the original Skunk2 unit. Supposedly it makes 20% more power in some areas versus the old unit, but I havn't seen any data to back that up.

I would just go with the IB ported ITR IM or the Endyn ported ITR IM.

well i found out today its $495.00 to get your manifold extrude honed!!! its $5xx to have the port match on top of that.
guess getting it cut and ported is the best choice considering the cost
