fuel filter kill relay?
i heard of someone doing some kind of relay on an alarm system which would basically kill the fuel pump if the alarm was armed. i have a customer with a 91 civic hb looking for added security. anyone know how this is wired?

I never kill the fuel pump at the fuel pump. Most theives will ripp up the seat and run 12 volts to it. It will stop the noobs but not the good theives. I like to relocate the main relay from its factory location and put it somewere else in the car, and kill it with a relay from the ground while armed wire from the brain. If its a dei alarm you will need two relays if your trying to use this way on a remote start. The reason why is that during remote start the armed while ground wire ( orange) is putting out ground while the remote start process is going on. So the second relay is needed to kill the relay thats killing the main relay.
Install the relay on the black ground wire going to the PGM-FI Main Relay, cut black ground lead connect cut ends to relays #30 and #87a, connect 12V+ true ign. to #85 and the "ground when armed" output to #86.
With that said, I would make it a redundant kill switch, not controlled by the alarm but manually, install a hidden on/off switch, the ground is low current so a small 1A switch can be used.

I put it on diffrent spots on people cars, I try to differate each main relay location. If the theif can get to the main relay and bypass it your car will start. If the relay is not in the factory easy to get to spot there is no chance of bypassing it. On the teg is on the kick pannel. on the civics its in the pass door. If you just kill it and leave it in the factory location the theif is going to find out how it is killed and do what ever it takes to get power or ground to it. Thieves just don't jump into cars and drive away. They have tools and equipment too. One that got caught in my car left one of his tools. It was a special tool made from a 12volt phone charger plug and it was tag to my fuel pump to give the fuel pump 12 volts. I tell you this it did not work thanks to the main relay kill.

</TD></TR></TABLE>ok, thanks. is the relay in the actual door or the passanger kick panel on a 91 civic?
The PGM-FI Main relay is located on the drivers side above hood release, a pain to get at, so no need to move it anyplace, it is very secure where it is... http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq...c.jpg
