Default help with electronic vss install

car: 89 hf; obd0 b16, pr3 ecu

installing my jdm SiR cluster. re-wired everything up, got a b-series electronic vss, wired it up and my speedo doesn't work. checked the grounds and voltage, and it appears the vss is getting the appropriate voltage.

signal wire going to back of cluster (b1 on jdm cluster plug). that same wire gets spliced to the ecu, pin b16 (both yellow/red wires)

power wire goes straight to ecu, a15

grounded the ground wire

what else should i check? no speedo

Hmm...are you sure the vss is good? Are you sure you used the corret wires off the plug?

black wire is ground middle wire on the plug is 12v and the other is signal. make sure you got a good plug. that happened on my old eg the spedo stoped working cause the plug was all coroded.

i'll have to go back and check to make sure i have the wires right. i'm pretty sure the middle was getting 12v though.

as for the vss, bought it off someone who said it was good.

How do you know you have a constant 12v? where are you pulling 12v from?
how did you verify ground is good?

i have the same problem, im pretty sure its wired correctly, i get code 17, and sometimes the speedo will randomlly fluctuate from 0-10mph, its very rare for it to do that though, i get 12v middle wire plug, o on ground, and 4volts on signal wire, when i spin the tire on jackstands the signal wire fluctuates between 2 - 4 volts, im so lost here.

17 can spawn from alot of different things. all the way down to a missing screw on the back of the cluster. 17 is always a hard one to figure out.

omg lol now that i think about it, the same exact thing happened with my Temperature gauge and it turned out to be a loose screw behind the cluster, it would fluctuate alot, why didnt i think of this before, thanks daniel
