Default d16a1 build help.

okay ill admit im the biggest noob ever when it comes to hondas. i need some help. i got a d16a1 dohc. and i need to build the **** out of it. atleast 200 hp to the crank, atleast. where can i get some good aftermarket parts for this sucker? i cant seem to find much, is any other parts compatible with this motor from other motors? i want to stay NA for now, and build the motor up to run a 75-100 shot of nitrous with out problems, and maybe later if i can find the room under the hood run a turbo with a little boost. not a powerhouse, jsut need a good solid 200 hp atleast. so any links, ideas, help, please! lol thanks guys.

well, first off you can save a lot of money by doing the reverse piston swap, you take b20z8 pistons(from the 92 honda civic miata) and drop them in upside down. Mill .0024 off the top flange flakes and use arp connecting rods.

for turbo, i would just use the c5r gt 500, garret turbonetics t7. It's a .37 / .26 a/f ratio.
I would use all ss autochrome connectors, they don't make good manifolds, but they do have good prices on k couplers.

you should be able to have a solid 200whp with that, unless you accidently run stage 6 camshafts.

dood, your so ******* far off, search, read, read read read, and then come back when you have a clue bro, not being a dick but yea. PM me if you get stuck on something small, not "fantasy engine", part by part, etc

also, do you own a wrench?... do you own a set of sockets?.. do you know how to change oil, bleed brakes, do a compression test ?

wow and your not trying to be an ***? would sure hate to see you being one. i spent 3 hours searching on this motor and found jack ****. you seach.

ive prob changed more oil, own a bigger shop, and have rebuilt more engines than you have. difference is, i grew up on ford and chevy pre 70's. thats all ive ever dug my hands into for motor work. im not a mechanic, but im not dumb when it comes to engines, but i adimit i am no mechanic, my skills are in body work/paint, and right now alignment and brakes/susension since thats what i specialize on in my shop. i also take on trucks, basically more suspension and i also do custom installs of about anything from hitches and jbrakes to lift and lower kits and air bags to dvd players and sat. radio. ive never dug into hondas in my life except for the last 2 months so ive started researching. glad to see you really know what your talking about, because i found the answers i was looking for, just not on this worthless forum. so thank you have a nice day, maybe next time you'll stop post whoring and not post about something you dont have the answers for.

Thats because that motor is shitty as hell.

there is no way you are going to get 200hp out if it for any less money than you have in a gsr swap or a built b16a.

unless you go turbo.

i know its a shitty motor, and my plan now is a small turbo set up, but i still think i can pull close to 150 hp with out the turbo and nitrous. theres more options for that motor than you think.

He's talking BHP guys, not WHP. Doable, but 170bhp would be an easier goal. Doesn't really matter what it makes. It can make 140whp and it will still haul in a car that light.

exactly right. after finding out some about this motor, my goal is 150-170 CRANK (bhp) horsepower. not wheels, with out nitrous or turbo. i will run 75-100 shot nitrous. and maybe turbo it, but probably not. the bone stock 110 hp motor will put this car in the low 14's. mid 14's at very least. 200 hp it will be down in the 12's my goal is 11's when im done. this car is seriously light weight. around 1000 pounds. and im not hoping for 11's untill after the gsr is put in.

HP to the crank and BHP are not the same thing.

that motor has 130 crank HP stock.

the motor is basicily a ZC getting a 170whp (200 to the crank) out of a ZC

Is going to be hard and i would reccomend getting a b16.

It will rev higher
Parts are more common.
It will be worth alot more if you sell it.
Mount kits are made for any car.
m4d vtechhhhhh y0
buy omnimans 200whp video

what car is this going in?

you do know you are going to have over 3000$ easy to get this think to make anything close to 170whp??

and it will be worth less than 1000$ when your done

you might want to rethink this.

You didn’t get 500lbs of weight out of that car by adding a heaver motor and taking the back seat out

On a serious note, are you mildly retarded? You have the sentence structure of a kindergartner.

this car weighs 1800 lbs

You are a liar. You cant get a crx down to 1000 lbs without a tube chassis and fiberglass body.

thats nice... who said anything about a crx? this is a 79 CIVIC!!!! 100% loaded from teh factory it only weighs 1500 pounds. thats not a lie, thats a factory spec. your talking about a 50 hp car here thats smaller than a crx! check your facts before you call me a liar. 1000 pounds is just a goal, im aiming more for 1200-1300. 1000 would just be nice.
