hesitation when motor is cold
I'm trying to diagnose this problem for a friend its a 96 LS auto it has about 68K miles (not 100% sure on the year).... since by the time she gets to my place the motor is already warm.. and it doesnt do it anymore... I've only seen her car do this hesitation once... but from what she says.. everyday when the motor is cold (morning or its been sitting for hours) when u press the gas initially the car will seem to choke or something.. but it doesn't go anywhere/doesnt move... then after about 1 or 2 seconds.. if u keep ur foot on the gas.. it will start going.. once the motor is warmed up.. it does not do this anymore and once u press the gas it goes..
things i've already tried for her are air filter, fuel filter, did an oil and filter change since I was there, tranny fluid (didn't appear dirty and no metal chips/shavings on the bolt or in the fluid), cleaned the throttle body, adjusted throttle cable tension, changed her plugs and wires, irrelevant but also did her coolant, brake pads, bled the brakes.....
i was told by someone it might be the tranny.. she took it to a tranny shop.. they said it appeared fine they did some kind of inspection and test drove it.... so I'm pretty lost... she says it only hesitates/pauses like that when the motor is cold/not at operating temp and it makes left turns unpredictable/unsafe.. any input on this matter would be appreciated.. I've done so many things on her car already and am confused at what the cause of this hesitation could be...
EDIT: gonna try replacing the cap and rotor... any input would be appreciated.. thanks.. and I'm doing all this work for free = (... so help me pinpoint the problem...

yeah the wierd thing is.. there are no error codes from either the ECU/Check engine OR the auto tranny codes... and this problem only happens when the engine is cold/not at operating temp... and for some reason its not throwing a CE code..
I'll try the distributor....
