Civic still shuts off while driving
I have a '93 Civic 1.5 3 door w/200k. The motor runs great except it just dies while running. I changed fuel filter and checked for pressure at the filter, which it has plenty. I changed the ignition coil, still the motor dies. I just now ran the motor in the driveway until it died, pulled the air tube off the air filter box and shot some starter fluid in it, the motor started up until the fluid was used up, then it died. Question, can the strainer be picking something up in the tank? Can a fuel pump have pressure the it falls off?

how old is the pump?? does it also have 200k? has the car ever sat there for months, without starting?? if so try pulling out the tank and checking everything out, clean the whole tank, if you have a friend that can loan you a pump try that one out after cleaning the tank, see what happens?? keep us updated on this.

Re: Civic still shuts off while driving
What I did yesterday was installed a new gas cap. I started the engine and when it died, it started right back up. I may have a couple of things going on; one maybe the gas cap, another maybe the pump and/or screen plugging up.
I blew a head gasket awhile back and the car set for about 6 months. The pump does have 200k. I bought the car new. It's been a very relible car until this...

well you could have a pump going bad.... or trash in the tank .... what you can do is just remove the back seat bottom and there you will find access to the fuel pump it self there you need to see what the pick up screen looks like..... if it looks fine ....... then you might have a main relay problem which is not uncommon for a honda.... but check the pump first you could have a screen that has came apart and you are gettin something that is blocking the pick up tube for the pump.... let me know....
